Timeless design with purpose – since 2014

ekomia was founded with the goal of combining high-quality design with ecological responsibility: timeless objects made from renewable materials such as solid wood from certified forestry or recyclable materials such as metal. Our designs follow a clear, minimalist design language that outlasts short-lived trends.

Our collections are created in Berlin and manufactured in close collaboration with selected partners in the EU – according to defined standards for quality and certified materials. We now offer a diverse range for every room in your home, which we regularly expand.

Our Journey

Here are some key steps in our over 10 year journey that has brought us to where we are now.

2014

ekomia is founded by Jekaterina and Rolf Piechura.

Launch of the first collection in white-glazed pine – affordable design furniture made from renewable solid wood.

2016

Opening of our first showroom in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg.

2018

Release of the Berlin collection in wild oak solid wood.

2019

Launch of our product configurator for customised dining tables and benches.

2021

Introduction of the office category with customised desks.

2022

Move to our new office with adjoining showroom in Berlin Kreuzberg.

Introduction of the Cosmic collection with a combination of metal and oak.

2023

In February 2023, we were certified as a B Corporation. As a B Corp™, we are part of a global community of companies that fulfil high social and environmental standards.

2025

Launch of our new website

Our design

With great care and a passion for high-quality materials, we design furniture that impresses with its extraordinary aesthetics and tactile quality.

True to the motto "less is more", ekomia furniture embraces minimalist, timeless design that sets accents in your home today and in the future, regardless of short-lived trends.

From the very start of the design process, we consider ecological aspects – from material selection and production through to longevity and repairability.

To our design guidelines

Our producers

For the production of our furniture, we work with selected partners, primarily in Poland and Germany. These are mostly medium-sized family businesses that we have been working with for many years.

The companies are usually specialised in a specific area of furniture production, for example the custom manufacturing of solid wood tables or the serial production of cabinet furniture in oak.

In close collaboration with our partners, we continuously develop our products and reduce error rates.

Our sustainability

Ecological thinking has been embedded in our DNA since our founding.

We closely monitor the impact of our actions on the environment and society, and continuously work to reduce negative effects. We are not always perfect, but always transparent.

Greenwashing is not something we do – as evidenced by our certification as a B Corporation.
