Natural latex mattresses are made predominantly from the milky sap of the rubber tree. Depending on the manufacturer, different formulations and tested materials are used. Natural latex is point-elastic, adapts to the body’s contours and can contribute to an ergonomic sleeping position – regardless of your preferred sleeping posture. Owing to its material structure, natural latex is regarded as particularly durable.

With proper use, a natural latex mattress can achieve a service life of around 10 to 15 years. In independent product tests, models made from natural latex regularly receive favourable ratings.

One potential drawback is the higher weight, which can make the mattress slightly more difficult to turn. In addition, natural latex mattresses are often priced above many conventional foam mattresses. However, when used correctly, they can offer a long service life.

Durability depends on both the material and the level of care.

Owing to their elastic resilience, natural latex mattresses are considered dimensionally stable. Depending on usage and maintenance, a service life of 10 to 15 years can be achieved. Regular turning and rotating, as well as ensuring good ventilation, can help to preserve the material properties for as long as possible.

Sprung slatted bases can also contribute to extending the mattress’s lifespan, as they help to absorb part of the load and reduce strain on the mattress.

Many natural latex mattresses are made from blends of natural and synthetic latex. Depending on the manufacturer’s specifications, such products may also be described as “natural latex mattresses”, provided that they contain a defined proportion of natural latex.

Mattresses with a core made from 100% natural latex consist exclusively of natural latex without any synthetic latex content. The raw material is derived from the milky sap of the rubber tree – a renewable natural resource.
