Natural solid wood dining tables
Solid wood dining tables are beautiful and sustainable furniture. Made from the renewable raw material wood, they bring a piece of nature into your home. Always with you: a lively play of colours that makes every single wooden table unique.
Robust: Solid wood dining tables
If you decide on a dining table made of solid wood, you will get a reliable and durable companion in your home. Solid wood is a very durable raw material which - if you treat it with care - will be by your side for the next decades.
And solid wood is absolutely trendy not only because of its durability. Hardly any other material is as authentic as wood: knots, resin inclusions and the individual grain create a unique play of colours. This makes every dining table a piece of furniture that is unique.
You want to buy a solid wood table? - What you should know
Spoilt for choice: Real wood dining tables are available in a wide variety of designs. A good reason to think about some basic ideas before buying.
Solid wood: fair enough - but which one?
Your decision has been made: It should be a wooden table. But which wood is the right one? Ash, Pine, Beech, Oak and Walnut are native woods that also grow in Europe. Walnut is a very dark wood, which is considered a precious wood in our latitudes. If you love dark interiors, this is the right choice.
If you prefer light woods, you should take a look at oak, beech and ash. Ash wood has a distinctive wood grain and a light yellow colouring. Oak wood is slightly darker and beech wood goes into a reddish colour.
Perhaps you have already stumbled upon the terms wild oak or heartbeech? Wild oak is a kind of art term that does not refer to a special type of tree, but rather to wood with a particularly lively grain, i.e. solid wood that is characterised by its "wild" colour spectrum. Heartbeech refers to the wood from the core - the inside - of the beech. It is characterised by many dark colour shades and therefore appears much more rustic than beech wood.
Solid dining tables: Form follows Function
Which type of wood and which version of the table - round or square - you choose depends a little on your style of furnishing and the spatial conditions. Generally speaking, the following applies: Lighter woods such as beech, oak and ash also fit well in smaller dining areas.
Walnut or other dark woods absorb light and take up more optical space. This can have an oppressive effect especially in a small dining room. If you have a Scandinavian interior, you can do everything right with a dining table with flared legs. Solid wood tables with straight legs always fit the bill: whether you want a timeless style of living or love Boho-Chic, for example.
If it fits, then it fits: The right table size
In our extendable solid wood dining tables. They can be enlarged if necessary.
In summary, you should know the following: per place setting and chair, a dining room table should have around 60 cm space - regardless of whether round dining tables or rectangular. The depth should be at least 90 cm. This provides convenient space for plates and food in the middle of the table. The table should be round 76 cm high so that you can use standard chairs.
Space in the room: Where to place your dining table
The best place for a table in the dining room is where you feel most comfortable. Rectangular tables can be placed against the wall - it's pleasing to the eye. A round table is best where it is freely accessible from all sides.
To ensure that everyone can sit comfortably, you should allow a distance of 80 cm between the edge of the table and the wall. This allows you to move the chair far enough away from the dining table to sit comfortably.
