The insertion depth refers to the distance from the top edge of the bed frame to the surface on which the slatted frame rests. The insertion depth is specified for all our beds – and on many models, it can even be adjusted to suit your needs during assembly.
If you subtract the insertion depth from the total height of your mattress and slatted base, you’ll know how far the mattress protrudes from the bed frame. The less it protrudes, the more understated and streamlined the bed looks. The more it protrudes, the higher the sitting and lying surface becomes – which can be more comfortable.
A good rule of thumb: the mattress should sink into the frame by about half. With platform beds, it sits almost flush with the frame without slipping.
