Babies andtoddlers are usually placed on firmer mattresses to ensure the sleeping surface remains stable and the body does not sink in too deeply. A firm mattress can help to provide an even support surface.
From around two years of age, a slightly more resilient mattress is often chosen, one that adapts to the body’s weight.
Children and teenagers often prefer a slightly firmer feel (e.g. H3) compared to adults. However, as they get older, individual preferences develop – depending on weight and personal comfort, a softer or firmer mattress may be found more comfortable.
Reversible mattresses with sides of different firmness levels are practical, as the firmness can be adjusted as required.
