Fairness, Diversity & Inclusion

What we stand for

ekomia is a small company. We do not have a diversity department or an HR division. What we do have is a clear stance: every person who comes into contact with ekomia – whether as an employee, a customer, or a supplier – deserves fair and respectful conditions.

This page describes what this means for us in concrete terms and which measures we are implementing as part of our B Corp recertification according to V2.1 standards.

Our understanding

Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) are not abstract goals for us. They are benchmarks against which we measure concrete decisions:

  • Who do we hire, and how does this process work?
  • How do we communicate with customers – is our language accessible and respectful for everyone?
  • Is our website accessible to people with disabilities?
  • Do we consider suppliers who promote diversity themselves?

We do not claim to be a role model. We claim honesty about what we are doing today.

Responsibility

This commitment applies to all areas of our activity: internally for our team, externally towards our customers, and along our supply chain towards our production partners in Germany and the EU.

The responsibility for implementation lies with both managing directors. ekomia is managed jointly by Rolf and Jekaterina Piechura, each holding 50% of the shares. Decisions are made together – and this topic is no exception.

What we are implementing

Accessible website

ekomia.de is designed to be largely barrier-free. Google PageSpeed rates the accessibility of our website with 100 out of 100 points.

Accessible showroom

Our Berlin showroom and office are fully accessible.

Corporate governance

The management board of ekomia consists of two managing directors in equal positions – one woman and one man, each with 50% shares. This is not a measure we introduced – it is how ekomia has been set up from the very beginning.

Fair working conditions

We offer our employees vacation entitlements beyond the statutory minimum, professional development opportunities, and a transit ticket for public transport.

Inclusive hiring

We advertise job openings in a way that appeals to people from diverse backgrounds. Applications are assessed based on suitability, not personal characteristics.
